Short Story ‘Like Starshine’ Published in America’s Emerging Fantasy Writers: Midwest Region

Hey all! I’ve been wanting to scream about this for a bit and finally can! I submitted to Z Publishing’s America’s Emerging Writers series last year and was accepted. I’m featured in their Wisconsin’s Emerging Writers: An Anthology of Fiction. When they announced that they were doing another series, I decided to try submitting again.

So I am pleased to announce that my short story – ‘Like Starshine’ – is featured in Z Publishing’s anthology America’s Emerging Fantasy Writers: Midwest Region. As of today, the anthology is released.

The description: In America’s Emerging Fantasy Writers: Midwest Region, 16 up-and-coming writers representing five states across the Midwest (IL, IN, IA, MN, and WI) share their short fantasy stories. A compelling introduction to the great wordsmiths of tomorrow, this anthology will take you to new worlds you won’t want to leave.

The authors featured are: Kyle Antholt, D. M. Becker, Joyce Cui, Ashley Dannie, R. Dugan, James Hutchison, Jacob Kennedy, LL Lemke, Ebony Levy, Catherine Mackie, Jean Knight Pace, Paige Ranning, Nicci Runkle, Chloe Vasquez, Ravyn Whyt, JM Williams, and Patrick Winters.

on knowing when to slow down

Hey all! It’s been such a weird year in terms of…everything. I’m doing well with writing, but my focus is all over the place. I think that’s improving a little, at least.

But this blog’s topic is an important one to me – knowing when to slow down. Historically, I’m really not good at knowing when to slow down. I’m usually the type to keep going and going until I actually burn out.

Obviously, I want to avoid burning out.

This is also topical as it’s currently NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month. Those who have been following me for awhile know that I’m big into NaNoWriMo. Though, sometimes not entirely in the sense of I must get 50,000 words in 30 days and more in the YAY NEW STORY!

It’s really, really easy for a writer to burn out during NaNoWriMo.

So here are some of my tips, I guess.

Announcement: Wisconsin’s Emerging Writers, an anthology of fiction

Hey all! Long time no talk. I’ve been wanting to scream about an exciting thing for the last month or so and I can finally mention it now. Back in May, I submitted a short story  or an anthology featuring upcoming Wisconsin writers.I submitted while I was at a convention and promptly got distracted by said convention and basically forgot that I submitted anything at all.

Now we fast forward a bit…and…

I can finally announce that my short story – Into the Void – is being published in Z Publishing‘s anthology ‘Wisconsin’s Emerging Writers: an anthology of fiction.’ I’m honored to be included! They were a joy to work with and I’m really excited to see the final product in print. The pre-order for the anthology can be found HERE. The official publication date is August 28th.
